Born in Wissinoming section of Philadelphia. Wife also born and lived there. Father came from Germany, mother US born. Both of Mino's parents are foreign born.

Fought in Civil War with Company I, 1st Regiment, US Artillery.
Fought in 32 battles. Promoted to First Sargeant. Captured by Confederate forces during the Battle of Bull Run. Incarcerated in the nototrious Libby Prison, Richmond, VA until repatriated.
Rejoined his unit and was eventually discharged at Fort Brown, Brownsville, TX., 13 months after the end of the war.
He is listed in the 1870 Philadelphia Census, 11 WD, 33 District, Series M 593, Roll 1396, page 5 as a Saw Filer.

He is listen in the 1880 United States Federal Census, home is Portsmouth, Norfolk, Virginia, as a single white male, occupation: soldier.

After the Civil War service he had joined the Philadelphia Police Force for five years. He worked 12 years for Henry Disston & Son and 18 years at Enterprise Manufacturing Co., where he became a foreman of the Polishing Department.
Ages 68-72 he was a Hostler for the Tacony Police Station. He retired at 72.
Lived in Tacony (a Philadelphia suburb) for 33 years.
For many years he was a member of the S.S. White Gun Club and Meadow Springs Gun Club. On two occasions he was National Skeet Shot Campion. In December 1921 the Philadelphia newspaper listed him as "despearately ill", but he recovered.

He died in Atlantic City, NJ and is buried in Magnolia Cemetary, Tacony.

Born 1840's in the US, fought in the Civil War with a Pennsylvania Division, was captured by the Confederate Army during the First battle of Manassas (Battle of "Bull Run"), incarcerated in the notorious Libby Prison (Richmond, Virginia) and later exchanged. After the war he became a policeman on the Philadelphia, Pa. policeforce and died during the early 1920's.

Removed AKA = "Geo W"' since his birthdate (1842) is to far away from birthdate (1849) in the source (1880 US Fed Census Virginia Norfolk All Townships Dist 80). It is more likely that "Geo W" is Williams brother Georg, born about 1848.
