Alan spent the first 15 years of his life in Philadelphia, then moved to Florida where he graduated from St. Petersburg High School, St. Petersburg Junior College and the University of Florida (BS degree Journalism).
Alan and Betsy met while working for two summers at a resort in New York's Adirondack Mountains.
Alan worked after college for GMAC in Syracuse, NY (1956-1957), Stuart Nurseries (Sales Promotion Manager, 1957-1961) in Newark, NY, Air Way Sanitizer Inc. (Sales Promotion Manager, 1961-1964) in Toledo, OH and finally, NFO Research Inc. (Purchasing Manager and finally Office Services Manager, 1964-1991) in Toledo.
Alan retired June 1991. They moved to the Knoxville, Tennessee area, Tellico Village. Both were deeply involved with Ottawa River United Methodist Church in Toledo for 30 years and continue to be involved in church activities with Tellico Community Church.
Alan is actively pursuing the Isphording family genealogy.
William married Betsy Ann ATWATER, daughter of Dr. G. Burnett ATWATER and Vera KETCHAM, on 29 Dec 1954 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Auburn, NY. (Betsy Ann ATWATER was born on 4 Sep 1931 in Auburn, Cayuga, NY, USA and died on 21 Oct 2004 in Loudon, Loudon, TN, USA.)
