Anton Kloewer (1831-1898), married to Maria Catharina Teipel (1834-1917), came with their families to the United States from Attendorn, Westphalen, Germany, around 1886. They were the parents of five children: John, Frank, Tony, Catherine and Anna. The family stayed a short time in Chicago before moving to western Iowa. John, born August 2, 1863, was 23-yearsold when he came to the UnitedStates.
