REISS
(picutures from Rev. Max Kümhoff)

This is a view of the Reis house from a different direction. It is at the left. The family lived in that converted bakery building for 22 years. By 1817 there were 10 people living there.

The building at the right is the parish house. The people are going to the church for the ordination of Father Kümhoff.

This is a picture of Heggen taken in the 1930s. You can see the Reis house in front of the church steeple. It is the small house in the center.

The Kümhoff house is at the left. In the three Heggen pictures, you have seen three sides of the Reis house.

This was the residence of the Reis family starting in 1820 (Gut Listernohl). They also owned lots (Flur) 1-77 surrounding the building. Elisabeth sold most of the property in 1846.
The residence was at the left; the center part was for the animals; and the chapel was at the right.
Quite a difference from Heggen.

The Reis house is the building at the far left. The building in the center of the picture is the Parish House and at the right is the Rectory. The children are Walter, Max, Werner and George Kümhoff.

This is another view of the church in Heggen. On the right is the old kindergarten. On the left you can see the top of the Kümhoff house.
The Reis house is in the dark area in the lower left of the picture.

Below is the 1832 land map for Listernohl. All of the lots with the words "Wittwe Reis" belonged to the Reis family.
J. Everhard had died before 1832, hence the designation of A. Elisabeth as "Wittwe" (widow). She owned numbers 1, 3 to 39, 41 to 77. The property was purchased 11 February 1820 for 3,000 Taler. The drawing of the house can be seen just below the first letter of Listernohl.
This information is from Hypothekenbuche Ewig Vol II. She sold most of the land in March 1846 for 4,650 Taler to Diedrich Wilhelm Mührmann. She kept 1/3 of lot 36.
