• Obituary, 19 Aug 2006. SALISBURY - Richard Samuel Lamanna, 59, of 110 Rhodes Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Born April 28, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Lamanna was the son of Samuel Bernard Lamanna of Youngstown and the late Philomena Pennell Lamanna. He received a Bachelor of Science degree at Kent State University and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Returning from service, he attended Youngstown State University, where he earned a Master's degree in Business Administration.

He worked at various companies as an accounting manager and at present was working for W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center.

Mr. Lamanna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Barbara Isphording Lamanna; sons Scott Lamanna and wife Olga Lucia of Bloomington, Ind., Eric Lamanna and wife Elisha of Cherryville and Matthew D. Lamanna of Fort Carson, Colo.; and sister Mary Ellen Thomson and husband David of Alabama. Also surviving are his father and mother-in-law, Russell and Ada Isphording of the home.

Services: A Prayer Service will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home followed by a visitation until 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Clements will officiate. Burial will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location, with military honors conducted by the Rowan County Military Honor Guard.
