bullet  General Notes:

ANNA ELISABETH FREITHOFF

Records indicate that Johann Freithoff had two wives. The mother of Johann Josef was Elisabeth Gesser. The mother of another child, Johann Peter, was Maria Dorothea Koenig. The date of birth of an Anna Elisabeth is not noted within the children of Johann Freithoff.

The brother of Anna Elisabeth, Johann Josef Freithoff, was a famous coppersmith. Apparently, he was not married and did not have children because A. Elisabeth inherited a large amount of money after his death. Since Anna Elisabeth inherited her brother's estate, it is being assumed that she had the same mother as Johann Josef.

She and Everhard purchased "Gut Listernohl" estate in 1820. Witwe (widow) Reis retained ownership of the entire estate until 8 March 1846 when she sold off most of it, reportedly because it was too much for her to take care of.

A comparison of the christening records for the Reis children shows that all of them were namesakes of one of their godparents. Several of those godparents were associated with Schloss Ahausen. According to information received from Oliver Haase, J. Everhard worked for the von Schade family as a tailor at Schoss Ahausen.

The first son, Johann Josef was born 28 June 1798 in Heggen bei Attendorn. His godfather and namesake was Johann Josef Freithoff, his uncle. On 24 November 1835 in Attendorn, he married Angela Regina Ruesche, daughter of Johan Peter Reusche and Anna Catharina Sterenberg. They had two children, born in 1839 and 1842.

The second child, first daughter, was Adolphina. She was born 23 January 1800. Her namesake was Adophina von Schade. On 15 October 1818, she married widower Henrich Isaac Meisborn. They had three children, born in 1819, 1821 and 1823.

The third child, second son, Johan Heinrich was born 22 June 1802. His namesake was Johannes Heinrich Hennecke. On 27 February 1812, he married Anna Maria Elisabeth Heuel in Imminghausen bei Attendorn. The couple had four children, born in 1832, 1935, 1838 and 1840.

The fourth child, second daughter, Anna Margaretha, was born 18 January 1804 and died 3 March 1806. She was named after Anna Margaretha Henning.

The fifth child, third daughter, was Philippina Christina. She was born 27 September 1806. Her namesake was Philippina von Schade zu Ahausen with Agnes Höffer acting in her behalf. On 15 November 1826 she married Everhard Peter Flamme. The couple had six children, born between 1834 and 1839. Their fifth child, Maria Elisabeth, born married Johann Peter Springob. The line of Oliver Haase goes through this line.

The sixth child, third son, was Johann Bernhard, born 31 October 1808. His namesake was Johannes Bernhard Sangermann. In 1836 he emigrated to the United States. He was a druggist. Records indicate that he was partially disabled and unable to serve in the military. His emigration is documented in the book "Emigration from the city and county of Attendorn to America."

The seventh child, fourth son, Peter Everhard was born on 18 April and died on 18 May 1811. He was named after Peter Kirchoff.

The eighth child, fourth daughter, was Maria Theresia, born 11 May 1812. Her namesake was Maria Theresia von Schade zu Ahausen. She married Theodor Wilhelm Franz Heuel on 21 October 1834. The couple lived in Imminghausen and had four children born between 1835 and 1848.

The ninth child, fifth son, Franz Xaver, was born 17 December 1814. He was named after Franz Rademacher zu Ahausen. He became a watchmaker/jeweler. He made application to emigrate to the United States on March 18, 1846, 10 days after his mother sold the'Gut Listernohl' estate.

The tenth and eleventh children, Theodor Herman Franz, born 21 July 1817, and Carl Josef, born 23 June 1820, entered military service. Little is known of them except where they were stationed. Theodor Frieherr von Schade zu Ahausen was the sponsor for Theodor. Revierförster Carl Josef von Ewig and Anna Maria Isphording (geborne Laymann) were the sponsors for Carl.

The twelfth child, fifth daughter, Maria Franziska Carolina, was born 28 April 1823. The only information found for her is that her baptismal sponsor and namesake was Maria Franziska von Schade zu Ahausen. The other sponsor was Carl Wiedemann from the papermill. No further information was found about her.
