Henry Kaufman, son of Frederick and Elizabeth Kniebe Kaufman, was born August 16, 1882, in Westphalia, where he also attended school. He married Cecilia Mueller, (b.8/4/1892) daughter of Frank and Catherine Kloewer Mueller of Westphalia on September 29, 1913. They are the parents of 10 children: Joe, who married Ann Geivasi; Frank, who married Vivian Hansen; Mary , who married Leroy Mundt; Helen, who married Martin Reinig; Louis, who married Mary Gaeligan; Henry, who married Barb Helwig; Genevieve, who married Gordon Weller; Therese, who married Peter Fromm; Catherine, who married Martin Schwarte; and Michael, who married Judy Carroll. In 1916, Henry and Cecilia moved to a farm near Earling where they lived until their deaths.

Henry married Cecelia MUELLER, daughter of Frank J. MUELLER and Maria Katharina CLÖWER, on 29 Sep 1913 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Westphalia, Shelby Co., IA. (Cecelia MUELLER was born on 4 Aug 1892 in Shelby Co., IA, USA, died in 1967 and was buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earling, Shelby Co., IA (Gravesite: Iv-3-4).)
